IN CHULA VISTA THERE IS AN ALARMING GROWTH IN POLICE CALLS FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
Domestic violence takes a tremendous toll on children and families and creates a larger public safety issue for all of us. We can stop the cycle of violence and reduce crime in our community by addressing this issue head on.
I propose a new approach that is preemptive and not just responsive. By involving local non-profits, churches, and other civic organizations, we can begin to take this problem out of the shadows and get help to those families that need the support.
The public resources used in dealing with domestic violence need to be redirected in order to maximize their effectiveness and stop the crime before it occurs.
